Father’s Day Gift Guide

Since my Mother’s Day Gift Guide proved to be helpful to a few people, I decided to do one for Father’s Day. And as with the MD post, I am just about a day late and a dollar short getting it written. The good news is, there are a couple of gift options that will still arrive before Sunday! I know men can be difficult to shop for. And if your husband/dad are anything like the men in my life, they really couldn’t care less about gifts. Which is why my first few gift ideas are the best. 🙂

Consider making a donation to the following organizations:

Defend the Fatherless and help support Lifeline’s (un)adopted program.  (un)adopted has programs in China, Uganda, Liberia, Congo and Pakistan. Click on the link to read more about the specifics in each country. If you make a donation by noon tomorrow (Thursday) your card will be mailed and arrive before Father’s Day. And if you really want to be generous, your gift of $250 or more will also include a book with photos and stories of lives of have been impacted through this ministry.

Give hope to the fatherless with Show Hope. Many of you may remember that we received a generous grant from Show Hope to help fund our adoption. From their website:

“The sad and scary truth is that every 18 seconds, a child becomes an orphan. Right now, there are millions of children who are growing up without the unconditional love of a father. How can we show hope to these little ones?
As a Show Hope Sponsor, your monthly gift will help bring the fatherless into the arms of their forever father. This Father’s Day, give your dad a gift that will transform a child’s life. Become a Sponsor in honor of your father. Every month, you will be giving the gift of hope to the fatherless!”

(Your honoree will receive an e-card.)

If you want to help more local families, consider making a donation to Forever Families Foundation. This was started by our friends the Sanders who also adopted from China. It’s been exciting to hear that many families have applied for grants. But in order to help them all, they of course need money!

And while we are on the subject of FFF, if you are in the Wiregrass area, I invite you to come out to Hartford Baptist Church on Sunday. They are having a special Father’s Day service with two adoptive families sharing their testimonies. FFF will also show their new video with testimonies from more adoptive families. Yours truly and my clan are on the video; you can enjoy Jeremy talking while I try to keep EB from crying. 🙂 Service starts at 10:15!

Ok, two more gift options and I’ll wrap this up. Obviously, I like to give gifts with meaning or that support worthwhile causes when I can.

I mentioned Standard Goods in my Mother’s Day post. (still want that gorgeous leather clutch. hint hint) Your dad or hubby might love one of their wallets, passport covers, iPhone/pad sleeves or mason jar sleeves. 100% of sales go towards helping this family bring their child home from China!

Last, check out these awesome water bottles from Miir. (also something I want for myself). They are stainless steel, BPA free, and the insulated bottles keep cold things cold for 24 hours and hot things hot for 12! I love that for every bottle purchased, clean water is given to a person in need.

Happy Shopping!
