I apologize for taking about 2 months to post an update. I don’t really have a good excuse for not posting. However, for a while there wasn’t much to post about. And then school started and that always throws me off for a while. I promise I will do better in the future. 🙂 I knew I better update though, because we have had so many people asking questions. Not that you can’t ask just because I’ve finally managed to sit down and type all this out. We so appreciate everyone’s genuine concern and interest. And we will always do our best to answer any questions you all may have.
I actually have several things to talk about, which is why I shouldn’t have waited so long to blog. I usually like to post about one main topic, but for this post, I will divide into sections.
We are finally and officially done with our homestudy! Woo-hoo! As much as we will miss our talks with Sherry, we are very excited to be moving into the next phase of this process. The good news is, we will get to hang out with Sherry again for several post-adoption interviews. 🙂
We had our final interview with Sherry at the end of July. She was so kind to combine interviews 3 and 4 for us. It was probably one of the better interviews we had because we actually got to talk about something different. The first part of the interview was on parenting and the second part was on adopting trans-racially/internationally.
The homestudy includes our interviews with Sherry, plus our medical exams, fingerprints, CAN forms, photos of ourselves and home, autobiographies, discussion questions, IAC and Hague trainings and other book and website readings. I’m sure there’s something I left off that list. Sherry typed all our information into about a 16 page report along with the other documents I mentioned. Our copy was mailed to us on Friday; we will need it for grant applications which I’ll talk more about in another post.
I have spent the past 2 nights completing our 800A form which is required by the USCIS. Our new contact at Lifeline for this next set of paperwork, etc. is Mallory. I have emailed her our form to check and hopefully she will respond tomorrow and say we are good to go. We will mail the 800A to her and she will send it along with our homestudy to USCIS.
Basically that leaves us almost finished with the required paperwork, etc. for the US. We will soon start on our dossier which are the required paperwork/documents for China.
I want to say thank you again to Mary Strickland and all who purchased from our Thirty One party. You helped us raise $300!
So many of you have asked about our next fundraiser, and again we appreciate your interest. For now, we are planning on having a yard sale sometime next month. If any of you have some items you would like to donate to our sale, we would gladly take them!
Other than that, we have discussed a couple of possible fundraisers and we’ll definitely keep you all posted!
Ok, I think that should catch you all up. Please continue to pray for us and check back often for updates. 🙂
